Double-cork 10

The last few weeks I have been trying to get my stokeness back. Since my competition season has been rather bad and dissapointing, skiing with friends is what counts the most in spring time. I have been trying to get my tricks better and even tried a few new ones. I have got the 450 - 630 on flatbox, and even a double-corked 10 mute. The double has been my target for a few months now, and I have been watching pk's big air runs in x-games over and over... and over and over and over again.... (you get it right?) I just needed the guts and the height to do it. Yesterday was my grand premiere of the trick, and today I got it perfect 3 out of 10 times, which is a good start right?

Saturday Shred with friends from Magnus Skotte Nørsteng on Vimeo.

This edit was made by Magnus Nørsteng, and yesterday was sick. All of the guys were throwing down the crazyest tricks.. Today was even better with sunny weather and a icy but firm park.
Props to Magz for doing the edit, and more to come!! I will try to put up a compilation from the best of my tricks the last week.

I am really stoked to get the double now, and stay tuned for more!!

Bowling-daaaay

Today it got official. I didn't get in to Sweet Rumble this year. That was okey, since I don't have the tricks I think it takes to do well there. But I am cruising Hafjell instead, and try to get a job for the summer and fall in Lillehammer.

I woke up pretty early today, had breakfast and then went for a jog in the snowy weather. Then Lasse Nyhaugen called me, if I wanted to join him on a few series of bowling. Cooolio, I thought. But, I lost after 3 series. IT is fun though!

Just look at the style Lasse put on! And the shoes..

A tie after two rounds. SUCKY points though.

I really wanna have sun and a funny spring park right now. With a few cool skiers to ski with. Easter is coming up, and after job interview on the upcoming monday I am going home to ski at Storlien and Åre, and to watch JOI if I don't qualify.

Hafjell tomorrow? Wanna join me in the snow??

A little update

Things are starting to take shape in Beito, just look at the picture of the main attraction. This one is not made for gapers. I think speed will be a struggle, but if the kicker is as good as I think, then sick things might happen!!

Right now I am in Lillehammer, Norway with my girlfriend. I am currently skiing allmost every day in Hafjell, and I have tried to get some tricks down. Take a peak on Magnus' edit from Sunday here: http://www.facebook.com/home.php?#/video/video.php?v=139658370486&ref=mf

Sweet Rumble is coming up, and I don't have a spot. Eventhough I must admit that it wouldn't hurt to try out the kicker a few times! Spring is reaching my frontdoor pretty soon, and easter is coming up. Storlien and Åre. Qualify for JOI would be great.

I am also going to attend a funny small competition in Storlien the 4th. Sport-Extreme and Radio Adressa is arranging the comp, and it's going to be sick! hehe.

Me and Ida went on a roadtrip to Oslo here the other day, to buy some furnitures for our living room. As you might know we are on this project with the house we are going to move into.; Total make-over... And it takes some time!!

Voila!!

Now it is time to do something.. I'm tired of skiing alone, been there done that. So I'm wondering if I should go pumping at the gym, or go skiing?

Winner of SHRED competition and Megapark

And the winner is Andreas O O. His choice of a free pair of SHRED goggles is the price as allways, and we all gratulate you.

Today was the first day of megapark in Oppdal, Norway. 6 jumps in a line, pretty mellow and a few rails. Got a few good cork 630´s off the canon-box.

Tonight was 4frnt railjam with a sick level of skiing, only seen in international competitions. This only show that Scandinavian skiers has a high level of skiing. Congrats to Thomas Dølplads with 3rd place at European Freeski Open!! Stoked for you!!

The railcomp went good for me, no biggie, no stress. Just hanging out and do cool railmoves. Got a few good tricks on the downrail (lip k-fed, lip 450 out, 270 on-450 out) and a few ones on the downbox( 270-swup-swup-270 out, and k-fed 450 out).

I am so tired after 8 hours of skiing, tomorrow is more shredding and bigair contest. I don´t think I will get enough speed though...

Session2953 ´09

Beitostølen Terrainpark has the hounor to build the sickest park Norway has seen the second year in a row!

From 16-19th of April Beito gathers the best skiers in Norway to a sick session in the most likely, best park in Norway at that time. Earlier this year I visited Beito public park, and it is pretty flat where the park is. But the shape and engineering that is done with the park just blew my mind. Top three in Norway at that time. This park is going to be at a different and better location. I will not miss it for the world if I was you. Andreas, the park manager in Beito will do his best to make skiers happy all weekend. He is one of the best park-builders in Norway, and skiers WILL not be dissapointed.

Tell your friends, and I see you there the 16-19th of April. I think it will rock. Can't wait.

check out www.session2953.com for more info!

Nothing else to say, it's snowing and no building is been done yet! I shreded the park in Storlien yesterday, small and funny. Check out the edit later on this week.

Peace.

Happy skiing!!

I am now at Storlien ski resort in Sweden. I am sitting in a cafe typing, since the weather got overcast and dark in the afternoon. I was supposed to start building the jump here today, but things aren't allways working out as planned. I think I am going up to find the spot afterwards.

I came up here at 12, and I started hitting the jump down by the cafe. It's very small, and lately some film company has been here, filming on the same jump, but they replaced the kicker with a launch-box (x-games style). So after they removed the rail, the jump was re-builded, and it is veryu small. BUT, it is so funny. It took me like 15 minutes from I arrived until I got my first sw 10 japan EVER. Superstoked.

The reason why I am up here is to take a brake from the stress of traveling and competing. You don't get any better by doing that. I rather like to practice new tricks. I have a list of 4 tricks total that I am going to learn this week. Two of them was sort of put down on this small kicker today, which made me very happy. Cork 3 tail and a off-axis unatural 720. The target is to get the unatural with a nose-grab and land well.

Soo.. Untill now there is nothing special to say, other than I have to wait until PEN is ready with the snowcat to build.

www.SHRED.no competition vol.2

A few rules:

All you have to do, is to answer a question in this exact blog-post (only this one, or else I will not consider your answer), with your full name and e-mail, so I can contact the choosen winner.

Write the answer followed by your name and e-mail as a comment to THIS blog-post, and I will chose the lucky one.

Please do only answer two times. I have to confirm every comment, so it might take a couple of hours. That's why it might seem that YOUR answer will not appear at first. Check back in a few hours, and if it's not up by then, post ONCE more ONLY.

PS! Your answer should be up before Friday afternoon at 4.00 PM, or else it would not count!

ONLY Norwegian citizens this time, sorry for all the SHRED fans from other countries, you will have to wait!

Answer and win with this following question:

Q: Two years and one month ago, I attended a big Slopestyle competition in Åre, Sweden. What is the comp called? And which place did I end up with?

søndag 8. mars 2009

9th place, different things in mind

I am back in Lillehammer after yesterdays Newschool Picknick in Schladmig, Austria. I got to the final after one guy crashing in the final-practice, and I was stoked since I had got the first looser spot after the qualis. (11th place, 10 to the final). Night session was on and double corks and flips well mixed together with stylish sw 10's and 9's were thrown down! Russ Henshaw from Australia won, before Bene mayr, Elias Ambuhl and Pekka Hysalo. Sick skiing and a lot of crazy fans were all over the place, in what is the largest apres-ski place in whole of Austria.

Tomorrow I am driving up to the middle-part of Norway. In my hometown, Hommelvik for one day. Then I am going up to Storlien to team up with my man PEN (www.storlienpark.blogspot.com) to build me a pretty decent jump on top of the mountain, that I can learn new tricks on.

Last two months has been a strugle from comp to comp and keeping my knees in place, so that they hold up to the next comp. No effective training has been done, and I need to get some new tricks in the book. I will keep you updated on building in progress as well as (hopefully) good skiing in Sweeden, Storlien.

Also: Check back in tomorrow for the next SHRED competition. Easy answer, and win a pair of awesome looking goggles!!

See you all!!

And the winner is...

ANDERS HOLM! Winning a pair of your choice SHRED GOGGLES from WWW.SHRED.NO

The truth is, that noone of 60 competitors had guessed correct! So I chose the second most correct answers from the list.

The correct answer is Unatural 720, it is SO hard and I allways overrotate. Anders Holm guessed cork 360, which is a trick I am really into learning right now, but it is hard! The third best answer this week was the one who guessed sw 1260. That is also a trick I want to learn, and what I am currently working on.

Thanx ! "

I know several people answered cork 360, so I had to do a random draw.

Congrats again!!

And to all you guys who didn't make it, it will be another comp on Monday, lasting to Friday! Good luck!!

I am currently in Austria for the Newschool Picknick Big air, and it's blowing like crazy!

I will post a update with that later on, see you!

2 days left

2 days left before one pair of your choice, SHRED goggles is shipped out to a lucky winner.

31 has sent in an answer, but I have to dissapoint you. You are on the wrong track. You are thinking to hard. Today's skiing isn't all about spin to win, a lot of tricks that might seem easy are actually very hard. The trick you should guess, is a trick that I have tried a LOT of times, but still don't get it right and good.

Step down, and I will give all of you ONE more guess!! If several people has correct answer, I will chose randomly!

Today was throwdown at Hafjell's stand-alone bigair jump "Rogern". Did a few sw 10's and sw 9's. Tried foreward 10 but it didn't work out at all!!

When I have arrived Austria on Friday, I will announce the winner, and goggles will be shipped out.

Peace, Steffs

Kicker-job in Hafjell

Today I joined Per, the park-manager in Hafjell to re-build the whole park. The park was closed and we got things going. I think it got pretty good, and the NTG crew speedchecked and tested the new course. They liked it.

2nd. Jump roughly finished

Per enjoying the view from the 2nd kicker.

and just a little more...

You SHOULD believe in what your doing, Per does!

Next years Salomon Magic-suit pants. Tighty allmighty, since it's just a demo.

And I did a sw12 no-grabber 2 minutes before closing time today.. and yeah, nobody was watching. Nobody would believe me either way. So I come back when I have some photos.

Steffmeister.

Lucky number 13

Yesterday the semi-finals and finals went on, and the weather was sunny for once! I started in heat B together with Pc Fosse, while Alex and Frido started in A.
First run was allright, sw 9 with just a little short hand on the grab, and a low 540 mute in the quarterpipe. I was really nervous in the first, but wanted to show off more in my second run, I knew how to do better!! Second run, took way more speed, sw 9 mute, tweaked the ski and landed far down the landing. High 540 mute in the quarterpipe, which I was stoked about. 87.0 in score from the x-games judges leaded by Evan Raps. Stoked!!
Unfortunately my heat was way thougher than I first thought, and I landed on 8th place. 6 went on to the final. If I had been in the other heat I would have had 5th place, and easily went on to the final.
In the end, Alex crashed his kangaroo and got himself a little concussion, couldn't really remember much. Frido stomped his 1260 mute to cork 9 in the pipe and got 8th place in the final. Pc stomped his super kangarooflip to the huge 540 poke nosegrab in the pipe. Only guy standing on top to beat Pc Fosse was Jossi Wells, and he did.
Current final standings were :
1. Jossi Wells
2. Pc Fossen
3. Sbrava guill.... something french
4. Charles Gagnier
It's really not much to say, since I am dissapointed. But the rest of the results can you find on http://www.nfo.jp/
Now I really look foreward to go to Trysil and hit Jon's jump and get a few new tricks in the book! I am tired of sucky jumps with sketchy finish.
Fruit fondue, with bread? What the... F*ASF
And the winners are.... Congrats PC, well deserved!!

Wow, Japan are crazy. I'm on TV!!

Funky 7 action, captioned by Ida.

Frido in a dub-corked 1080 mute.

Alex with a dub-corked 1080 mute.

LOOK AT PC'S JAPAN. Probably the sickest I have seen.
Now I am off to shred park and film follows for a little edit?
See you all when I am back in Norway on Monday.
Peace, S.
